Birchbox-May 2017

My May Birchbox had some familiar favorites and a surprise.

I’ve received several Coola products in my monthly subscription boxes. They always work great, so I look forward to using this sunscreen/primer. Full-size $42

I’ve used Whish body cream before and it smells luscious, but the sample tubes don’t have enough product to see if it works. This cream is supposed to help stretch marks and scars. Full-size $36

I don’t know why Birchbox keeps sending me hair products I can’t use. Full-size $24

I’m excited about this mascara by The Beauty Crop. Not only is the packaging adorable, but the mascara has argan and jojoba oils in it. Full-size $22

This perfume is described as sophisticated and glamorous with notes of sandalwood and jasmine. I call it heaven. Full-size $105.

Birchbox -April 2017

I’m a little late with this Birchbox review for April but I think it was worth the wait. I received five items in my monthly subscription box and all for $10.

Dr. Jart’s Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream is described as healing and calming for the skin. According to the box, you apply it to your face and let the warmth of your hands help the skin absorb the cream. Full-Size $48

Number 4 Jour D’Automne Sugar Texturizing Spray. This didn’t work well on my hair. But if you like salt texturizing spray, this is supposed to be gentler. Full-Size $22

This is a Michael Todd blue-green algae antibacterial toner. It should be good removing sweat and oil from your face and neck after a good workout. Full-Size $19

Amika hair products work like magic on my hair. This is a blow out spray with seabuckthorn berry.  It leaves my hair looking fabulous. Full-Size $48

My favorite part of my Birchbox is this Beauty Crop GRLPWR lips liquid lipstick.

The color is Imma Bawse.  Kind of a orange-red. I love this because it dries matte and stays on forever. Check out the colors here: The Beauty Crop Full-Size $14.95.

Ipsy Bag-April 2017

I’m loving this year’s Ipsy bags. This month’s ticket theme is adorable. Obviously, it’s perfect for a trip to the movies or an amusement park or you could keep notes and receipts in it. I think I’ll keep it in my car to store my charger, pens, and other knick knacks. Let’s take a look at what I received in the bag.

PS Cosmeceutical non-toxic nail lacquer in the color, Southern Sand. I like the fact that the nail polish is vegan, free of harmful chemicals, and infused with grapefruit seed extract which is an antifungal property. The nail lacquer cost about $15.00 a bottle. Check out the colors here PS Cosmeceutical.

Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel can be used on the face or body.  Hanalei is an excellent brand that I’ve received before from Ipsy. I love their lip moisturizers. A full-size jar of the aloe soothing gel costs $30.

I received a little sample of Elizabeth Mott’s  Show Me Your Glow shimmer eyeshadow and highlighter. This has a silver undertone which I’ve never used before. I usually buy highlighters in gold hues. So I’m anxious to experiment with this.

Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Blush brush. What is there to say? The synthetic bristles are soft. The handle is sturdy. But none of that matters because this brush is so damn cute. Pink with unicorns.

TonyMoly lipcare in Honey Moisture. Since I have dry lips, I can never have too many lip balms. As you can see, I’ve already used this several times and it’s moisturizing but not too slippery.

I’m always amazed by the great products I receive from Ipsy for just $10 a month. Do you have a monthly makeup subscription service? If so, let me know. I want to try some new services out.

Stay blessed,

FabFitFun Box-Spring 2017

I’m always excited about receiving my Fab Fit Fun box. It comes out every season and it’s stocked full of goodies, many of which are high-end.

FabFitFun started as an online magazine so of course, you get a magazine that’s full of great information. Not only does it provide descriptions of all the items in the box, but also the charities and organizations that benefit from the sale of the products. Let’s look at what I received.

Nice. A dual set of Deborah Lippmann nail polish in the colors Like A Virgin and Blue Orchid. These are perfect spring and summer shades. $19

Briogeo Rosarco Milk reparative leave-in conditioning spray. I’ve already tried this and it whipped my dry hair into shape. The spray has rosehip, argan, and coconut oils in it. It’s a great heat protectant. $20

These Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin, and Nail Gummies are yummy and seem to be working. I’ve been taking them for less than two weeks and my nails are growing and strong. $8

This Milly zip pouch is sturdy and perfect for traveling. Although this looks lavender, it’s really a powder pink color. The bag is waterproof which makes it perfect for the pool or beach. $45.

Karuna Hydrating Face Mask. This mask is made out of 100% natural wood-pulp fiber and is supposed to increase hydration in the skin by 40 percent after one use. The box contains four masks which is a month’s supply. $28

Dr. Brandt is a fabulous brand that I’ve used before but only as samples. This Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator removes dead skin cells. I’ve already tested this out and I love it. $79

Let’s take a second to just look at this set and admire it. The beauty of this Realher lip kit in Deep Red is stunning. Lipstick. Lip liner. Lip gloss. Made of all natural ingredients. I’m such a lucky girl. $48

This is going to be my go-to summer piece. It’s by Gypsy 05 and this Boho Beach Roundie can be worn, tossed over your legs as a throw, and even used as a picnic blanket.

The fabric is organic and Gypsy 05 uses eco-friendly dyes. Plus, the roundie designs are amazing. $50

What would a FabFitFun box be without jewelry? This Emerald DUV “Joshua Tree” cage bracelet will be perfect with a sundress or cute short sleeve blouse.

This cuff look makes a statement, but it’s not overwhelming. The bracelet retails for $80. Check out the Emerald DUV website for more incredible jewelry.

I paid $49.99 for all this which retails for $375. As always, I’m very pleased with this season’s FabFitFun box.

Build a Salad from Leftovers

While most people go out to eat or order pizza for dinner on Fridays, I try to clean out my refrigerator. Either I make a buffet from leftovers, use up veggies by making a stir-fry, or create a salad with whatever ingredients I can find. Here’s what I used for this salad, but you can use what you have available.

Leftover iceberg lettuce

1 avocado

Leftover baked tilapia

Colby Jack cheese

Black Olives

Green onions

Seasonings: Mrs. Dash no salt seasonings, ground black pepper, sea salt,

Salad dressing: Garlic Infused Olive Oil and lime juice.

Healthy Food Haul Hits and Misses

Here’s a quick wrap of healthy products I found around town. Basically, I go where the sales are to get the best deals. Let’s start with Marshall’s.

This coconut water was $2.99 a container. I usually pay $4.00 for each so I bought two.

My absolute favorite treats are these dark chocolate coconuts chips. I toss them on top of vanilla yogurt or eat them as a snack. These pomegranate gummy bears are gluten-free and taste just like normal gummy bears. The coconut chips and gummy bears sell for $2.99 a bag.

These Goodie Girl cookies are so yummy. They’re gluten-free but they’re not low-fat. Great on yogurt or by themselves. Just $2.79 a bag. These are my favorites.

These nut and rice clusters are a nice afternoon treat. They’re low-calorie and full of good stuff. A little pricey at $6.99 a bag.

This raw cacao powder was only $5.99 a bag which is about four to five bucks cheaper than at other stores. Chocolate is made from cacao so it’s a great way to add a chocolate taste to smoothies and baked goods. I also found a small bag of goji berries for $2.50 which is a great price since they’re expensive.

Lastly, I needed fresh ground pepper so I picked this grinder for $5.99. I was really pleased with the taste of the peppercorns.

Moving on to Costco. They finally got their Himalayan pink salt back in stock.  It costs less than four dollars.

This is the best salsa in the world. It has a little kick but it’s not too spicy. It’s all natural and I use it on taco salads, with chips, and even on top of omelets. $5.99 a jar at Costco.

I stopped by Fresh Thyme Market for my 48 oz bottle of GT’s Trilogy Kombucha tea for only $7.49. I usually have to pay $3.30 for the smaller bottles which adds up. I’ve learned to stop by the store before the weekend. I got this on a Thursday and it was the last one.

I’ve also switched from using almond milk to coconut milk. There is far less sodium in coconut milk than almond milk, so it’s better for people who have high blood pressure.

You always want to check to make sure that your dairy and meat products are carrageenan-free. Carrageenan is red seaweed used to preserve food, meat, and other food products. It can cause severe digestive issues.

Moving on to ALDI’s. I used to love this non-fat yogurt. It’s low-calorie and tastes great and it only costs $1.89 for a large container. It was a must have that I’ve repurchased several times. That is until I read the label and found this…

I don’t know how this got by me, but the darn yogurt has carrageenan in it. So I guess I’ll have to shell out the extra money and pay $4.00 a container for carrageenan-free yogurt. Darn.

I did have some success at ALDIs. This 8 oz bag of mixed nuts was only $4.99.

I found a something new at Meijer. Gluten-free lasagna cut pasta for only $1.99 a bag. I’ve been looking for pasta that I can use in a tuna casserole or chicken noodle soup. I’ll  be sure to share some recipes and let you know how the noodles taste.SAM_2466

Lastly, I want to show how I store my goodies. I hate the cluttered look of store packages and containers. So I keep my food items in glass containers. I get these from the Dollar Tree for a buck a piece. I can immediately see what I’ve left and repurchase before I run out.

I also use mason jars to store beans, rice, and even spices. Click Mason Jars Storage to learn more.
