I’m hard to please when it comes to a taco salad. Few places meet my standards because I love to make my own. Here’s one of my favorites.
Ingredients:
Ground chicken or turkey
Taco seasoning
Romaine lettuce
Onions
Green onions (optional)
Ortega mild taco sauce
Mateo salsa
Cilantro
Tomatoes
Colby Jack cheese
Blue corn tortilla chips
Reduced calorie sour cream
Cooking Instructions:
Brown the ground chicken or turkey and add taco seasoning, following the directions on the packet. While that’s simmering, dice your vegetables. Now it’s time to build your taco salad. I start with the lettuce and add the white or red onion. Scoop on the taco meat, tomatoes, cheese, cilantro, and green onion. I drizzle the Ortega taco sauce on top and spoon on some sour cream and tuck the blue corn tortilla chips around the salad.
On the side, I serve Mateo salsa which I buy at Costco for $5.99 a bottle.
I know you will enjoy this. Feel free to substitute the meat with beans of your choice.
Stay blessed,
Barbie
