I’m late but it’s all good. I’ve got a look at my January Ipsy and Birchbox deliveries. As you know by now, these are monthly beauty subscriptions. The good thing about a late review is that I’ve given most of my products a try and can give my first impressions. Let’s take a look at Ipsy first.
(Disclaimer: I got a new camera that I don’t really know how to use yet, so please excuse the bad photography. )
When I first saw preview of this makeup bag online, I hated it. But when it arrived, I fell in love with it. I wear cat-eye glasses so I adored the retrolook.
Now I have a bag to match my glasses. Cool.
January’s products focused on….you guessed it…the EYES!
City Color is an inexpensive line and it shows. This eyeshadow palette has a poor color payoff and doesn’t last. It’s best used as a spare eyeshadow kept in an emergency makeup bag.
Continuing with the eye theme, I received a Pur-lisse Blue Lotus eye serum. I’ve tried it a couple of times and it’s moisturizing and seems to get the job done.
This Coastal Scents brush has an angle which I found interesting. It’s too large to use as an eyeshadow brush, so I used it as a blending brush.
Receiving The Balm’s Mr. Write (NOW) self sharpening eyeliner was a pleasant surprise. I received this in the color Jack B. Bronze. I love bronze eyeliners and this one goes on smoothly and looks great. The last product I received was a sample of Mitchell and Peach English Leaf body cream.
The smell is addictive. It smells like a field during the summertime. It contains shea butter so it’s very moisturizing.
January’s Birchbox came with a greeting for the new year and a sheet of inspirational stickers. These are great to put in journals.
Here’s a peek at the goodies I received.
The sample of Supergoop anti-aging eye cream is nice because it has sunscreen. Full-size price=$45.
Three Whishes body butter in lavender. The lotion is thin and non-oily but the smell is relaxing. Full-size=$24.
Cargo Swimmables shadow stick in the color sea shell. This color is hard to get on the eyelid and doesn’t blend well. Full-size pack of three is $22.
I love perfume samples and this time I received Clean’s Cashmere. It’s a spicy scent that includes cedar and sandalwood. My favorites. Full-size=$20 to $69.
I also received a TonyMoly Delight lipstain in the color, Red. It’s a true blue red that’s matte and stays on for hours. Full-size=$6.
I liked most of the products I received and I can’t wait to play with them more. In addition to my monthly beauty boxes, I like to find new beauty and body products on Hautelook.com.
I found a fabulous Christmas Body Shop gift set for $29.
I received a coconut lip butter. I put this on in the morning after brushing my teeth. It’s soothing and lasts a long time.
The gift set included mesh pouf sponge and a full-size coconut whipped body butter.
A full-size body mist in coconut. Smells yummy.
And lastly, a full-size coconut body scrub. A thumbs up for all the goodies I received in January. I plan to start doing a monthly favorites’ list to let you know what items worked for me and what didn’t.
Stay Blessed.
